Synopsis:  Laurina is based on a real-life journal written by the screenwriters' grandmother in the early 1920s. It tells the story of Laurina's Italian immigrant family and how she had overcome a horrific event, one that remains shocking over 80 years later. It is also a snapshot of early 20th century Immigrant life and the hardships they had to endure to follow their dreams to a better life.
